Where Time & Money Actually Are

Ten process steps, separated by what genuinely binds them. Two of the most frequently pitched use cases compress nothing.

The discipline

Separate real constraints from imagined ones

The single most useful discipline in this research was separating steps where AI compresses a real constraint from steps where it compresses nothing, because the constraint was never informational.

Two of the most frequently pitched use cases fall squarely into the second bucket.

Two pitches that compress nothing

~2 days
expedited Texas permit turnaround

Texas state drilling permits are not a bottleneck

The Railroad Commission posted expedited permits in roughly two business days and standard permits in roughly four as of March 2025, against a statewide volume of 7,424 original drilling permits in calendar 2025, down from 8,683 in 2024 certain . Any proposition built on drafting Texas permits faster has almost no cycle-time prize to claim.

2034
Waste Emissions Charge deferred to this reporting year

Recurring emissions reporting burden is falling by policy, not by AI

Congress amended Clean Air Act section 136(g) in July 2025 to push the Waste Emissions Charge out to emissions reported for calendar year 2034; EPA extended OOOOb and OOOOc compliance deadlines by a separate interim final rule finalized November 26, 2025; and the technical reconsideration final rule of April 4, 2026 claims $2.5 billion of avoided burden from 2024 to 2038, about $208 million a year, while extending permitted flaring of associated gas from 24 to 72 hours certain . Do not build a business case on methane compliance; the forcing function has been removed for a decade.
